Social Media Sharing

Control how your landing page appears when shared on platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter) by configuring Social Meta Data and refreshing cached previews.

Accessing Social Settings

To access the Social Media settings, click on the name of your page in the dashboard and select Search & Social / Social Media from the slideout menu.

Configuring the Social Card

In the Social section, you can define the "Open Graph" data that social platforms use to generate a preview card when your link is shared.

  • Social Title: The headline that appears on the social media post. This can be different from your SEO title to better capture attention in social feeds.

  • Social Description: A brief summary that appears under the title in a post.

  • Thumbnail Image: The image that appears in the post preview.

    • Recommended Size: 1200 x 627 pixels.

    • Tip: High-quality, relevant images significantly increase the Click-Through Rate (CTR).

Troubleshooting & Refreshing Social Previews

If you update your Social Media settings in Instapage but the old image or text still appears when you share the link, the social platform has "cached" the old version. You can force an update using these methods:

1. Use Official Debugging Tools

Paste your URL into these tools to force the platform to re-crawl your page:

2. The "Query String" Trick (Instant Refresh)

If the official debuggers are taking too long to update, you can bypass the platform’s cache entirely by adding a "dummy" parameter to the end of your URL.

Social platforms treat every unique URL as a brand-new page. By adding a small snippet of code at the end of your link, you force the platform to fetch the most recent data immediately.

  • Original Link: https://yourpage.com/offer

  • Refreshed Link: https://yourpage.com/offer?v=1

Simply add ?v=1 (or ?update=now) to the end of your URL when posting. If you need to refresh it again later, just change the number (e.g., ?v=2). This parameter does not need to be present in Instapage or elsewhere to function as described.

3. Clear Local App Cache

If you are testing on a mobile device and the old image persists, try clearing the "Media Storage" or "Web Storage" in your Instagram, TikTok, X, or Facebook app settings, as the app itself might be caching the old image locally.
