As a security measure, we lock domains under the first Instapage account that uses them. This does not affect the manner in which you can use the domain outside of our platform. It does mean, however, that if you try adding the same domain to a new Instapage account, you will be presented with an error message stating that The domain you’ve entered is currently being used by another user. Access will need to be granted for you to publish to this domain.
Domains can be moved from one account to another in two ways:
- The current domain owner contacts the Instapage Support Team and requests the move after specifying the email address of the new domain owner.
- If the first option is unavailable, the person who wants to use the domain can go through a domain ownership verification procedure.
If the domain will be used by both accounts, then one account can REQUEST ACCESS, and then the current domain owner can simply grant access to the second account from their Global Domains dashboard. Moving the domain from the backend is necessary only if the current owner stops using it. You can learn more about this here https://d.pr/uKNoWz.
Domain ownership verification procedure
The account that does not currently have access to the domain should submit a request and follow the instructions here: https://d.pr/Qnw8uj.
When submitting the request, use the email address associated with the owner of the account that will use the domain going forward, not the email address of a team member.
You will be asked to verify ownership using one of the methods below:
- Domain ownership recovery - meta tag verification as seen here: https://d.pr/riq4P7
- Domain ownership recovery - TXT record verification as seen here: https://d.pr/XncF9Q
Once you complete the steps, a ticket will be created in our support system, and one of our Support Agents will look over your request and help you further.
NOTE: Domains cannot be transferred between free trial accounts.
