Send parameters through the URL upon redirect

We're excited to introduce a powerful feature in Instapage that allows you to pass parameters through URLs for enhanced tracking and customization. This feature is available for text elements, images, buttons, and forms, providing you with greater flexibility in personalizing user experiences and tracking campaign performance.

For Text Elements, Images, and Buttons:

1. Navigate to Link setup from the menu on the right after clicking on your element;

2. Choose your type of redirect: Outside URL or Landing page;

4. Save and Update your page from the top right.

How it works:

  • When a user clicks on an element or submits a form with the toggle enabled, any parameters appended to the incoming URL that the visitor clicked will be added to the redirect link.

    Example: Your URL that the visitor clicks to see the landing page is https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct?utm_source=google and you set the redirect to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/ with the toggle enabled, the visitor will be redirected to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/?utm_source=google

  • If the redirect link already contains parameters, enabling the toggle will append the new parameters to the existing ones.

    Example: Your URL that the visitor clicks to see the landing page is https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct?utm_source=google and you set the redirect to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/?utm_medium=paid with the toggle enabled, the visitor will be redirected to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/?utm_medium=paid&utm_source=google
  • In case the redirect link already has the same query key in its parameters, the value from the incoming URL will replace the default value, ensuring accurate tracking and customization.

    Example: Your URL that the visitor clicks to see the landing page is https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct?utm_source=google and you set the redirect to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/?utm_source=somethingelse with the toggle enabled, the visitor will be redirected to https://lp.mydomain.com/myproduct_thankyou/?utm_source=google
NOTE: In terms of forms, it will only send the parameters that are already appended to the URL, it will not send data inserted by the visitor into the form. If you wish to pass data captured through a form, you can add some code to the page as seen here: https://d.pr/IwD0bB
